Overview
The course describes the ocean circulation and the dynamics that drive it. You will learn about properties of seawater, basics of the atmospheric circulation and climate, the wind-driven circulation in the upper ocean, the circulation in the deep sea, sea waves, tides, sea ice, and the connection between ice sheets and the ocean. The course also provides an introduction to biochemical cycles in the world's oceans.

Entry requirements
Access to the course requires knowledge equivalent to Geological sciences 15 credits (GG2010) or the courses Tellus I - Geology, 15 credits (GG2008), Tellus II - Geology, 12.5 credits (GG4039), Tellus III - Geology, 2.5 credits (GG4042). In addition, courses in mathematics corresponding to 7.5 credits are required.
