Patent and Intellectual Property Rights

<p>How is knowledge protected and commercialised in a global economy? This course provides an introduction to patents and other intellectual property rights, and how they are used as a means of competition in companies. </p><p>The course covers Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from a global perspective. You will gain knowledge of how patents, copyright, trademarks and design protection are used to protect and commercialise intangible assets.</p><p>The course also addresses related areas of law, such as confidentiality, IT law, and marketing and competition law. You will gain an understanding of how intellectual property rights form part of a company’s value-creating process and how they are used strategically in international business.</p><p>The course also deals with legal issues related to the commercialisation of intellectual property, such as licence agreements, as well as how companies work with IPR strategies, patent database searches and the interpretation of intellectual property agreements. </p>
