<p>Do you want to understand the Israeli-Palestinian conflict better? This course will give you a deeper understanding of theories of war and peace, as well as insights into factors that drive the escalation of violence and the peace process in new directions.</p><p>The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, strongly marked by its protractedness, is one of the most discussed and analysed in modern times. The course introduces different theoretical perspectives on war and peace and provides a deep understanding and insights into factors that drive the escalation of violence and the peace process in new directions. </p><p>Key topics include: </p><ul><li>Causes of the conflict: Identity, nationalism, religion, territory, and great power politics. </li><li>The Middle East peace process: Different agreements, third-party peacebuilding, the roles of mediators, and why peace negotiations broke down. </li><li>Conflict resolution: Peace visions and various territorial solutions, such as the two-state solution, confederation, and binational state. </li><li>Gender perspectives: Women’s activism as well as the role of masculinities and femininities in ethno-national narratives.</li></ul>
