Kursens syfte är att studenten fördjupar sina kunskaper om slasherfilmens historik och genrekonventioner samt väsentligt utvecklar och fördjupar sin förmåga att analysera och tolka estetiska uttryck. Kursen belyser slasherfilmen utifrån olika teoretiska perspektiv genom studiet av relevant vetenskaplig forskning och teoretiska verk som behandlar genren samt genom studiet av olika genreexempel.

90 hp Litteraturvetenskap eller Filmvetenskap varav minst 30 hp på G2F-nivå eller högre. Gymnasiets Svenska kurs 3 eller Svenska som andraspråk kurs 3. Motsvarandebedömning kan göras.
