<p>Are you curious about how sounds work in different languages? Do you want to understand how we categorize and analyze sounds? Then this course is for you!</p><p>This course is relevant for those who want to understand the building blocks of language and how they are used in different languages. During the course, you will develop a fundamental understanding of how sound systems function in human languages. You will learn about sound categorization, lexical contrast, and how sounds can be combined. You will analyse sound data from different languages, learn both traditional and modern phonological theory, and explore examples from many different languages to see how sound structures work.</p>

To be eligible for the course requires the successful completion of 90 higher education credits, of which at least 60 credits are from within a language discipline or Linguistics (General Linguistics or Phonetics), or the equivalent.
