Overview
The course covers production of x-rays and optima radiation quality for different types of diagnostic investigations. Methods to optimize image quality- absorbed dose and different imaging detection methods are image processing are discussed in detail. Special investigation methods as computer tomography and mammography are covered. An important part of the course is radiation protection aspects, related both to patients and staff. Both legal and practical aspects are covered. One part of the course implies practical work where the student actively is a part of a clinical medical physics environment and accomplishes quality controls on x-ray diagnostic equipment. The principles of generating and detecting ultra sound is covered. Different clinical applications of ultrasound such as pulse-echo methods and Doppler methods are together with quality controls an important part of the course.
