Overview
Under kursen studeras smärtupplevelsen och uppkomstmekanismer bakom olika smärttillstånd, liksom hur smärta kan diagnosticeras och klassificeras. Kursen belyser åtgärder för att behandla eller förhålla sig till smärta, exempelvis farmakologisk behandling, psykologisk behandling och fysioterapeutiska interventioner. Kursen tar även upp hållbar utveckling samt paradigm, perspektiv, begrepp och teorier inom fysioterapin. Beroende på studentens val av fördjupningsområde kommer kursen också att omfatta en fördjupning inom ett av följande områden: akut och långvarig smärta, smärta i olika åldrar, smärta och kön, smärta ur ett kulturellt perspektiv eller ett specifikt smärttillstånd.
