Overview
The course provides an introductory orientation of studies in political behaviour within advanced representative democracies by means of the students studying central study objects within this field of research. Important functions within a representative democracy are discussed together with studies in political participation. The model of social dividing lines in relation to empirical research on political behaviour is examined, and the changed importance of social dividing lines in relation to dealignment and realignment on the basis of value-based dividing lines is also studies. The fourth area to be discussed in the course concerns the political opinions of members of society and the representativity of elected politicians.
