Political Science: European Governance

<p>How are decisions that shape Europe made? European Governance offers research-based insights into the EU’s political system and institutions and analytical tools for understanding the complexity of European policymaking.</p><p>This course provides an advanced understanding of the European Union’s political system and decision-making processes. You will explore how power is exercised, negotiated, and organised within the EU, for instance, through institutional interactions and member-state influence. </p><p>The course covers four main themes: </p><ol><li>The development of European integration and its driving forces </li><li>Decision-making within the executive, legislative, and judicial spheres </li><li>The EU as a negotiation arena </li><li>The EU as an administrative system. </li></ol><p>Through theoretical perspectives, current research, and practical exercises such as a negotiation simulation, you will develop the ability to analyse how European governance operates in practice.</p>
