Period 1: NEK306 International Economics and Financial Markets, 7.5hp<br> Period 2: NEK308 Portfolio Investment, 7.5hp<br> Period 3+4: NEK316 Bachelor's Thesis in Economics, 15hp The overall goal of the course Portfolio Investment (NEK308) is to provide an introduction to fundamental portfolio theory. This includes, among other things, CAPM and APT analysis of asset pricing and how it is used to evaluate portfolio performance. It also introduces the valuation of derivative instruments, including options, futures, forward contracts, and swaps, and their various uses for risk diversification and speculation purposes. The course includes practical sessions in computer labs that cover data collection and data analysis. This aims to provide students with practical skills in applied portfolio theory and portfolio management.

Admission to the course requires a minimum of 45 credits in Economics at basic- and intermediate level with a passing grade. Prior knowledge equivalent to 15 credits in statistics is recommended.
