Overview
*This course is given as a package together with* *Power System Automation and Control - analysis* *2,5 ECTS* The course covers automation and control in the power system and gives an understanding of different types of automated control in the power system and how these processes contribute to a robust power system. Topics included in the course are: - automation for fault clearing in the grid to decrease the duration of outages and disturbances in distribution system, the sub-transmission system and the transmission system. - control of active and reactive power in energy storage systems to enable a more efficient use of the transmission capacity in the power system. - automation and control of production, energy storage and HVDC to provide different kinds of wide area protections based on voltage, frequency or load flow in the power system. - active power control of loads and energy storage for economic optimization based on spot prize, grid connection fee, inhouse consumption, inhouse production and inhouse energy storage. - control of loads and local energy storage in different locations in the power system, public buildings and industries. - control of loads and local energy storage to provide different kinds of support to the power system at local, regional and national levels. The support has durations from seconds up to hours. **Industry and academy** This course has been developed in collaboration with industry partners within the framework of one of our educational projects. The project aims to provide courses at advanced level to a mix of professionals and students to strengthen the Swedish industry's competitiveness. We apply a validation of work experience, which means we can assess your competence based on both formal credentials and work experience. Even if you don't have formal qualifications, such as grades or diplomas, you may have the knowledge that meets the eligibility requirements for the course.
