Practice Internship in Business Administration

Students in the Bachelor’s Programme in Business and Economics who have chosen business administration as their major can, provided they meet the course prerequisites and other relevant requirements, dedicate the fifth semester to work-based learning (internship). The course aims to develop the student’s professional skills through qualified work experience and enhance their understanding of how the knowledge gained during the first two years of the programme is relevant and applicable to their future career. With guidance from a workplace supervisor, the student carries out tasks relevant to their education and future professional roles. During the course, at least one documented assignment is completed (such as a minor study or report, a project, a presentation, or a seminar) which is considered valuable for the host organisation and relevant to the student’s studies. Through the course, the student gains insight into a specific workplace’s organisation, operations, work methods, daily routines, and organisational culture. Throughout the placement, the student keeps a work journal to reflect on their experiences, which is later revised and presented in a placement report focused on specific themes, one of which includes reflections on the need for further skills development. During the course, the student also produces an academic report that, with high academic standards, analyses and critically discusses how the knowledge acquired during the programme has been applied during the placement, as well as reflecting on the need for further knowledge. The report is presented at a final seminar. At the seminar, the student also evaluates and discusses their experiences from the placement with the other course participants.
