Overview
The course aims to develop the students' abilities in how to use sociological theories and methods to implement a project for a client. Today sociologists work within a range of different professions and organizations. In the past, employment within state and municipal organizations was most common among qualified sociologists, but today it is common to also work within private and non-profit organizations. Sociologists' task is, among other things, to identify, describe and analyze social phenomena, such as why certain social groups find it more difficult to enter the labor market, or how school can shape children's life situation. The course trains these types of skills. Project assignments can be formulated by clients within public, private or non-profit organizations who need a sociological investigation and analysis within an area relevant to them. During the course, students also reflect on their role in the work process during the project.

Entry requirements
A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) including 90 credits in sociology. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6. This requirement can be met either by achieving the required score on an internationally recognised test, or by previous upper secondary or university studies in some countries.
