Overview
The course provides basic knowledge in scientific method and theory with a focus on geomatics. The student learns to independently formulate research questions in GIS/GIT, analyze scientific literature and discuss and critically review scientific texts. Lectures and seminars cover theoretical perspectives, steps in the research process, structure and content of scientific publications and correct reference management. Students are trained in searching for relevant literature in scientific databases, writing scientifically and opposing the work of others. The course also aims to develop the student's ability to identify their own need for further knowledge in the field.

30 ECTS credits completed in the Surveying Technology and Geographic IT programme or the Surveying and Mapping programme and 4 ECTS credits completed in the course Geographic Information Systems I (7.5 ECTS credits), or equivalent
