Overview
The expression "a picture is worth a thousand words" refers to the idea that complex stories can be described with just a single image. The expression is also valid in the scientific area and expresses what scientific visualisation is about. When large and complex data sets result from experiments and computations, visualisation is a way to give deeper insight and knowledge. The course Scientific Visualisation deals with these, methods that offer a way to see the unseen. In the course, you will learn how to select appropriate methods for a given data set, possibilities and limitations with methods, and use visualisation toolkits. The focus will be on using script programming in combination with VTK (the Visualisation Toolkit) and this way creating great visualisations.

Entry requirements
120 credits including Computer Programming I and Scientific Computing II. Scientific Computing II may be replaced by Numerical Methods and Simulation, 5 credits, Scientific Computing, Bridging Course, 5 credits, or Scientific Computing and Calculus, 10 credits. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
