Overview
A technical system comprises often of continuous time linear systems, described by differential equations, and microprocessors, which sample signals at a constant frequency. Such a system is often called a digital system and such one can be transformed to a linear discrete time system, which may be be described by a linear difference equation. This, and that there are efficient and easy accessible methods for studying differential and difference equations, are reasons why it uses to be courses about these equations in electrical and computer engineering curricula. The course treats a theory of how to describe digital signals and how to model digital systems. The theory is generalized to cover continuous time signals and systems. Computer exercises are used to enhance the understanding of how differential and difference equations, Fourier series and Laplace transforms work. The main components of the course are: periodic discrete time signals difference equations discrete Fourier transform and its use when studying system described by difference equations Fourier series and their use in analysis of continuous time signals and system orientation of the Fourier transform, its relation to the discrete Fourier transform the Laplace transform and its use in analysis of system. Specially when voltages and currents of electrical networks are determined.
