Kursen består av två delkurser: Delkurs 1. Demokratins problem 7,5 hp Kursen behandlar demokratins problem och rymmer tre delar. Under den första delen behandlas begreppsliga frågor om demokratins innebörd och normativa frågor om olika sätt att rättfärdiga demokrati och problemställningar. Kursens andra del behandlar i huvudsak empiriska frågeställningar om demokratins utbredning och orsaker och ett tredje avsnitt behandlar demokratins politiska och ekonomiska effekter. Delkurs 2. Valbar kurs 7,5 hp.
