Overview
<p>This course addresses general theories of social change in modern society with a particular emphasis on theories and analyses of globalization as a process of change. In particular the role of capitalism, colonialism, the nation state, nationalism and social movements in relation to globalization are reviewed and discussed. Further, the students undertake project work in which they empirically investigate and analyse a social movement in relation to its globalized context.</p> <p>Language of instruction: English</p>

Entry requirements
To be eligible for the course, the student must have completed with a passing grade second-cycle courses in Sociology corresponding to at least 30 higher education credits, of which 15 must be from core course/s and 15 from methods course/s or equivalent knowledge. Students registered before 1 July 2007 must have completed a Master?s degree (one year) in Sociology. English 6/English B or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.
