Overview
Programmet ger dig möjlighet att utveckla och fördjupa frågor om socialt arbete med särskild fokus på social utsatthet och sociala förändringsprocesser. Det förbereder för kvalificerade arbetsuppgifter inom området. En masterexamen i socialt arbete är en kompetensutveckling för socionomer och andra yrkesverksamma i människobehandlande organisationer. Arbetsmarknaden för socionomer ställer idag höga krav på specialiserad kompetens och därför fyller utbildningen en viktig funktion. Utbildningen tränar förmågan att kritiskt granska forskning, att använda olika forskningsmetoder och att producera vetenskapliga texter. Dessa förmågor är viktiga för utvecklingen av det praktiska sociala arbetet. Programmet leder till en masterexamen (120 hp) och ger behörighet till forskarstudier.

Socionomexamen eller kandidatexamen omfattande minst 180 hp inklusive ett examensarbete omfattande 15 hp inom socialt arbete, folkhälsovetenskap, psykologi, sociologi, statsvetenskap, pedagogik, genusvetenskap, kriminologi eller motsvarande.
