Kursen har tonvikt på hur samspelet mellan informella och formella institutioner, organisationer och andra samhällsstrukturer påverkar människor och mänskliga relationer. Med utgångspunkt från individen belyses ur ett sociologiskt perspektiv dennes plats i och relation till dessa krafter och strukturer, såsom normer, diskurser och sätt att organisera och strukturera mänskliga verksamheter. Med utgångspunkt från individen belyses ur ett psykologiskt perspektiv hur förståelsen av sig själv i relation till andra och sitt eget och andras beteende inom olika kontexter med olika normer och struktur, påverkas. Psykologins och psykologens roll i samhället kommer att behandlas. Kursen ges på svenska och engelska.
