Fysisk träning kan bedrivas på många olika sätt och med väldigt olika syften: till exempel en rask promenad för att må bra eller hårda backintervaller för att prestera i tävlingssammanhang. Kursen har i huvudsak sin utgångspunkt i fysiologiska faktorer som påverkar vår fysiska hälsa och prestationsförmåga. Målsättningen med kursen är att de studerande ska få insikt i de grunder som ligger bakom gällande träningsrekommendationer, samt få en grundläggande förmåga att planera träning utifrån ett specifikt syfte.
