Kursen behandlar medicinska problemställningar relevanta för fysisk aktivitet och idrott, från motionstill elitidrott. Det innebär ett brett perspektiv alltifrån internmedicinska till ortopediska frågeställningar, ur ett evidensbaserat perspektiv. Prevention, behandling och rehabilitering kopplat till idrott och fysisk aktivitet ingår också liksom studier av faktorer och underliggande mekanismer för uppkomst av skador inom idrott och motion. Även idrottsmedicinska principer samt grundläggande diagnostisering och kliniska undersökningsmetoder av vanligt förekommande idrottsskador studeras.
