Overview
This course is for those who wish to develop their competencies in teaching rhetoric in English. The focus is rhetorical analysis. You will read texts in various genres and from various rhetorical contexts, evaluating their potential as teaching material. You will develop strategies for teaching upper-secondary students to analyze multimodal and text-based arguments. Furthermore, you will plan lessons in rhetorical analysis that aim to foster students' rhetorical awareness and critical reading skills. A sister course offered in the autumn semester provides insights into teaching spoken and written arguments. If you choose to take both courses, you will receive comprehensive training in rhetorical pedagogy and become better able to help upper-secondary students prepare for active participation in professional and civic life.

30 credits in English from a teacher training program with a specialisation in upper-secondary school, or the equivalent.
