Overview
Kursen innehåller en systematisk genomgång av centrala texter från den arabiska renässansen, al-Nahda, från mitten av 1800-talet fram till cirka 1930. Den historiska betydelsen av denna litterära rörelse diskuteras dels utifrån dessa primärtexter som läses parallellt i arabiskt original och i engelsk översättning, dels utifrån aktuell litteraturvetenskaplig debatt om perioden i fråga. Särskilt fokus läggs vid de kvinnliga skribenternas insats och betydelse. Viktig tilläggsinformation inför höstterminen 2020 mot bakgrund av coronapandemin: Om undervisning och examination på campuskurs inte kan genomföras kommer kursen att ges online istället.

Kandidatexamen. Därtill krävs minst 90 hp i ämnet arabiska eller motsvarande kunskaper, samt Engelska 6.
