Overview
Kursen innehåller en allmänt orienterande beskrivning av välfärdssamhällets framväxt och utveckling från mitten av 1800-talet fram till 1990-talet med fokus på Sverige. Här behandlas välfärdssamhällets ekonomiska och idéhistoriska ursprung i liberal filantropi och välgörenhet under slutet av 1800-talet och hur detta byggs ut från lokala till nationella projekt under början av 1900-talet. Här tecknas också en linje från privata initiativ på det sociala området i lokalsamhället till kommunalisering och förstatliganden via den offentliga sektorn under efterkrigstiden. Detta bildar sedan utgångspunkt för anläggandet av mer analytiska perspektiv på välfärdssamhällets utveckling som exempelvis klass och genus samt problematisering av vissa centrala begrepp som exempelvis folkhem, social ingenjörskonst och den svenska modellen. Metodövningar och olika typer av seminarier ingår.
