Overview
<p>In this course you learn basic physical, mathematical and statistical methods with relevance for treatment of physical geography issues. Further, you study the relationship between measurement and modelling as a way to describe spatial and temporal phenomena. The methods and their applications are highlighted with examples from various fields of physical geography such as climatology, hydrology, micro-meteorology and ecosystem science.</p><p>Building on students’ prior knowledge, the course introduces fundamental physical, mathematical and statistical methods of relevance to approaching questions in physical geography. The relationship between measurement and modelling as a means of describing spatial and temporal phenomena is further introduced. Practice in the the use of computer-based analysis and presentation software, information searching, as well as oral and written presentation techniques form are part of the learning activities.</p> <h3>Course design</h3> <p>The teaching consists of lectures, laboratory sessions, field exercises, seminars, group work and project work.
