Overview
Kursen är en introduktion till samhällsvetenskapernas epistemologi (kunskapsteori) och vetenskapsteori. I kursen behandlas och diskuteras ett flertal grundläggande vetenskapsteoretiska begrepp, teorier och problem, med speciellt fokus på de samhällsvetenskapliga disciplinerna. Exempel på begrepp som behandlas är hypotes, observation, objektivitet, sanning och vetenskaplighet. Exempel på vetenskapsteoretiska teorier som behandlas och diskuteras är den hypotetiskt-deduktiva metoden, logisk positivism, falsifikationism samt hermeneutik. Grundläggande vetenskapsteoretiska problem som kursen behandlar är huruvida det finns en vetenskaplig metod, om vetenskapen är rationell, samt om vetenskapliga teorier kan vara sanna.
