Overview
The course helps students discover and understand the historical emergence of Tourism Studies. Special emphasis is given to theoretical traditions, research approaches, and research areas in Tourism Studies. Tourism theory is associated with a social-science perspective as well as related to challenges and progress in scientific knowledge production. Both challenges and progress are highlighted in light of social, cultural, environmental, and economic concerns that relate to tourism and sustainability.
