Overview
The course introduces corpus linguistics, that is to say the use of large corpora for language research, as a methodology. With a focus on certain selected areas of English grammar and phraseology, the course includes practical activities that allow students to apply both quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques used in corpus research. Through the analysis of authentic language data (both written and oral), linguistic theories are reexamined and differences in language use over time and in different contexts are further investigated.

Entry requirements
90 ECTS credits, including at least 30 ECTS credits at the G2F level, in one of the main fields of study English, Swedish, or Linguistics, and upper secondary level English 6 or English level 2, or equivalent.
