The student is expected to be able to: - compute vector addition, dot product (scalar product), norm, and cross product, and interpret them geometrically - perform changes of basis - carry out matrix multiplication - determine the matrix representation of a linear transformation - compute the determinant of 2×2 and 3×3 matrices - determine the inverse of an invertible matrix - determine partial derivatives of standard functions - differentiate vector-valued functions and interpret the derivative geometrically apply the chain rule for several variables - sketch and interpret graphs of functions, as well as level curves and level surfaces - determine tangent lines to curves and tangent planes to surfaces - linearize real-valued and vector-valued functions of several variables - determine and interpret the gradient as the direction of greatest increase and as normal to level curves - visualize sets in the plane and in space - compute double and triple integrals, possibly requiring a change of variables.
