Overview
### The course package consists of the following courses: **Water Treatment Technology, 7.5 credits**
The course covers the following components: water in the environment – hydrology and water quality; physical, chemical, and biological processes affecting water quality; treatment technologies for drinking water and wastewater; stormwater management and stormwater systems; water sampling and analysis; and risk assessment of contaminated water from an environmental and public health perspective. **Energy and Sustainable Land Use, 7.5 credits**
The course addresses energy and energy systems with emphasis on renewable energy, field industries, industry, and transport. The course also deals with sustainability conflicts linked to human needs. **Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 7.5 credits**
The course focuses on practical applications of GIS. Various problems that can be studied and analysed using spatial data will be the starting point for identifying and developing solutions. The geographical examples used in the course are mainly from environmental science. Using GIS, students will study how problems can be analysed, presented and what possible solutions may exist. **Applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 7.5 credits**
The course provides knowledge of GIS analyses and the collection and processing of data from, for example, authorities, satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and GPS. The examples and tasks given in the course are mainly based on environmental issues which the students will analyse and solve using GIS. Students will be trained in problem formulation relevant to the subject and spend a large part of the course carrying out an individual project. The aim is that the knowledge and ability to practically use GIS is trained in a realistic situation.
