Overview
Wireless networks are everywhere - mobile phone systems, wireless LANs, digital terrestrial televisions, are a few examples of the widely spread systems in everyday life. These networks involve the latest technologies. With emerging new applications of 5G, such as tactile internet, virtual reality, real time autonomous system management, requirements from wireless networks become more stringent. Wireless networks sometimes should operate extremely reliable with very low latency to meet with such demands and at the same time they have to be easy and affordable to use to serve massive number of connected things. To provide connectivity to wide span of mobile applications, these networks require huge investments from those deploying them. This course provides in-depth knowledge within the area of wireless communications networks. Special emphasis is put on wireless infrastructure deployment, system design, resource management, and the performance analysis of systems for mobile telephony, data, and multimedia communications focusing on the interplay between energy, cost and spectrum resources.
