Overview
This course offers discursive skills to meet the challenges of the job market for language professionals. Lectures and seminars are combined with guest appearances from and dialogues with established professionals in different stages of their careers. The course includes fieldwork to develop student engagement with professional practice in the community and, in addition to the physical classroom, it provides an integrated online learning environment. The content of the course will vary to make use of the teachers' expertise. However, learning outcomes include proficiency in the language and rhetoric required for CV and job application writing in English. After the course, you will have developed, tested and applied your networking skills. You will also be proficient in a range of writing practices, including ways of formally introducing yourself to prospective employers, aimed at defining your expertise as a language professional.
