Applied fatigue and fracture mechanics

The course provides an introduction and overview on applied fatigue and fracture mechanics.<br> After a basic introduction to fatigue, both stress-based (S-N curve) and strain-based (e-N curve) fatigue analyses are covered, with a discussion on when these analyses are applicable. The course introduces the fundamental concepts of fracture mechanics and explains how these can be utilized to design against fatigue ensuring a greater level of structural sustainability. Test methods to obtain fatigue related material properties are discussed with emphasis on why these tests should be carried out with utmost care.<br> Industry and academia<br> This course has been developed in collaboration with industry within the framework of one of our educational projects.
