Overview
Kursen behandlar grunderna inom genetik, evolution, systematik och ekologi. Kursen indelas i två moduler. Modul 1: Teori, 6 förutbildningspoäng. Modulen behandlar naturvetenskapliga teorier om livets uppkomst, utveckling och organismvärldens indelning. Vidare studeras cellers funktion, celldelning, arvsmassans uppbyggnad, mekanismer som styr arvet, genuttryck och hur det påverkas av arv och miljö. Naturligt urval, sexuell selektion, organismers beteenden och artbildning belyses utifrån ett evolutionärt perspektiv. Utifrån grundläggande kunskaper om interaktioner mellan individer och populationer samt deras omgivning förklaras artrikedom och artsammansättning i olika samhällen, ekosystems struktur och funktion samt hur olika störningar kan påverkar ekosystem. Modulen behandlar även samhällsfrågor relaterade till hållbar utveckling. Modul 2: Praktiska moment, 1.5 förutbildningspoäng. Modulen behandlar exkursion i fält och laborationer.
